Visit to St.Christophers - Friday 10th June

We arrived at the Hospice at 9:30 to set up for the session, I was quite anxious about this visit as it was mine and Tessa’s responsibility to introduce the workshop at the beginning to the patients, we had to plan what we were going to do to make them feel comfortable. We began by re introducing ourselves as a group and shared the place we were brought up. Tessa then gave a short over view of the project. We then went round in a circle again to discuss a memory of the place we were brought up. This was nice because as we were able to start the morning positively. The patients seemed optimist, which made us all feel comfortable when we had to participate in one on one discussion. I was paired with Dennis, he was very willing to talk to me and share stories. He is very friendly and funny and I got on with him well. I found it very easy to talk to him and there wasn’t a quiet moment which made me feel very confident. We did a couple of drawing activities and I learnt a lot about him. He told me about his family and his experiences at work. He had never been married which I found quite odd. I couldn’t help but question how different his life could have been if he had never been a child in the war, he spoke about his friends, sister who he thought he would marry though never got the chance to as she died during the war.
