after this workshop i am clear about what i want to portray for my final piece, for exhibition in the celebration. it will be based around steve and the frustrations he faces.

workshop on friday 17th june
The dynamic of this workshop was very different to the first. we arrived at 9 sharp and had a lot to set up. we just about finished dividing the room into 4 quarters so we could establish what mediums were in which corner. Gerry came down to the arts centre and told us that only 3 patients had turned up. we were all a little worried, but after about 15 minutes a lot more patients turned up. Steve was first in the room, and i followed him down. he told he he'd brought another object for us to talk about. and also a replacement pig (with its nose in tact) who we named Penelope. the object was a flat teapot, with clear words stating "a balanced diet is one cupcake in each hand" he told he his brother had bought it for him on his travels to Australia. Steve said he wanted to cast this object. but when we tried it didn't really work because it was so flat, and the outline kept getting morphed. so we moved onto cyanotype. i had already prepared the acetate for us to work on, and harry and abraham already prepared the paper. the darkroom was set up so everything was really easy to use. i gave steve a piece of acetate for him to draw onto and then expose. he drew a half finished cat, again. but it came out really well. i spoke to him about composition and what he wanted to expose. he didn't really have a preference so we made a small collage.
